Index of Official Reports for Antietam/Sharpsburg

Military officers in command of troops are required to report their activities periodically, especially after significant engagements. This is a list of the reports made by many of the officers for the Maryland Campaign of 1862 - the battles for Harpers Ferry and Martinsburg, at Turner's, Fox's, and Crampton's Gaps on South Mountain, at Antietam or Sharpsburg, and at Shepherdstown.

Our sources are the Official Records (ORs)* and its Supplement** and other archives, from which the texts are taken verbatim. We know of 341 reports relating to the Campaign written by officers who were there. We have prepared and posted them here.

These are sorted alphabetically by the author's name. Click on his name to see the full text of an officer's report.
