Before the Antietam Campaign:
A 25 year old clerk from New Orleans, he enlisted 25 April 1861 in Company I, FIrst Louisiana Infantry. Captured in action at Seven Pines, VA 28 June 1862 and exchanged on 5 August 1862 at Aiken's Landing, VA.

In the Antietam Campaign:
Reported missing and presumed killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
