Before the Antietam Campaign:
He enlisted in Company H, 8th Louisiana Infantry in March 1862. He was absent sick in Lynchburg in April. Captured at Woodstock, VA on 10 June 1862, sent to Ft. Delaware, and exchanged through Aiken's Landing, VA on 5 August 1862.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Listed as absent, sick, until January 1863, after which he was shown as absent without leave. Last heard from in Avoyelles, LA.
