He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

Re-enlisted as Corporal on December 29, 1863, at Blain's Cross Roads, Tenn. Mustered on December 30, 1863. Captured and taken prisoner at Weldon R. R., Va. on August 19, 1864. Discharged at Camp Chase, Ohio on June 13, 1865.
