He enlisted in Company A, 6th Louisiana Infantry on 4 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 and captured on the 18th.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to US Army Hospital #5 in Frederick, MD on 22 October 1862, and transferred to Ft McHenry, MD on the 25th. He was paroled there and exchanged 10 November 1862 at Aiken's Landing, VA. He was discharged in or before December 1862.
