A 37 year old farmer in Madison, GA, he enlisted in Company A, 16th Georgia Infantry as 2nd Sergeant on 11 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action on 14 September 1862 at Crampton's Gap.

The rest of the War

He was probably buried on or near the battlefield and may be among the "unknowns" reinterred in the Washington Confederate Cemetery at Rose Hill in Hagerstown, MD in about 1874.
