Before the Antietam Campaign:
Enlisted as Private, Company E, 16th Georgia Infantry on 24 July 1861.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded - in the left hand, necessitating removal of muscles in arm and fingers - in action on 14 September 1862 at Crampton's Gap.

The remainder of the War:
Wounded in head near Richmond, Virginia in 1865. Captured at Farmville, Virginia April 6, 1865. Released at Newport News, Virginia June 26, 1865.

After the War:
Applied for a pension in 1898 in Habersham County, GA.
