Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 23 year old farmer at Erasmus in Gaston County, NC. He enlisted at Dallas, NC on 10 May 1862 as a Private in Company H, 49th North Carolina Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was sent to a hospital in Front Royal, VA on 26 October and died there of his wounds on 7 November 1862.
