Before the Antietam Campaign:
He was appointed Assistant Surgeon, 23rd Georgia Infantry on 17 February 1862, and promoted Surgeon later in 1862.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was captured at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA 10 November 1862. Resigned his commission on 20 February 1863.

After the War:
He travelled (fled?) to Texas in 1865 and died there in 1866.
