Before the Antietam Campaign:
Age 26 years. Enlisted October 9, 1861, at Windsor, to serve three years; mastered in as Private, Co. G, October 16, 1861; promoted Corporal, August 8, 1862.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
He was promoted Sergeant, June 1, 1863 and discharged October 15, 1864 at Bermuda Hundred, VA.
