Before Sharpsburg

He was mustered as Corporal in Parker's Battery in March 1862 as the unit organized. He was promoted Sergeant by August 1862.

The rest of the War

He was elected 2nd Lieutenant on 31 October 1862, and was cited by Captain Parker for his service at Gettysburg in July 1863. He was on furlough that Autumn. He was ill that winter and died at Wytheville on 10 April 1864.1
