In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded and captured in action on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
He was paroled at Antietam, Md., September 17, 1862; promoted Corporal, February 13, 1863; mustered out with his Company, on May 20, 1863, at New York City.
