A 27 year old unmarried laborer living in New Orleans, he enlisted as Private, Company F, 6th Louisiana Infantry at Camp Moore, LA on 4 June 1861. He had light complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, and stood 5 ft. 9 in. tall.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

Absent, wounded at Winchester, VA on 14 June 1863. Roll for July and August 1863 says "Absent. Hospl., Charlottesville." Rolls from Sept., 1863, to Dec., 1863; Roll for Jan. and Feb., 1864, "Detailed in Shoemaker Shop." Rolls from March, 1864, to Oct., 1864. state "Present." Federal Rolls of Prisoners of War Captured Petersburg, April 2nd, 1865, from City Point, VA. Released on Oath June 14th, 1865.
