Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted as Private, Company E, 8th Louisiana Infantry on 22 February 1862, in Franklin Parish. He was then a 21 year old married Farmer living in Winnsboro, LA. He was absent, sick in hospital in July and August 1862, but returned to his Company by September.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded and captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was admitted 10 October 1862, to No. 5 US Army General Hospital at Frederick, MD. He was on a roll of Prisoners of War at Fort McHenry, MD by 13 October, paroled and sent to Fort Monroe, VA, then Aiken's Landing, VA for exchange. Officially exchanged at Aikens Landing 10 November. He was furloughed to Louisiana on 1 November 1862, but died at one in December 1862.
