Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Company D, First Louisiana Infantry as First Sergeant on April 28th, 1861 in New Orleans. He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant on Aug. 3rd, 1861, and re-elected 2nd Lt., under Conscript Act of April 28th, 1862, at South Mills, NC at the reorganization of the Company. He was promoted First Lieutenant on June 16th, 1862. Wounded in skirmish of June 25th, 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded again, in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was killed in action at the Wilderness, VA on 5 May 1864.
