A shoemaker in Concord, he enlisted at age 31 in Company A, 5th New Hampshire Infantry on 16 September 1861.
On the Campaign
He was listed as a deserter on 16 September 1862 at Sharpsburg, MD.
After the War
He was a bootmaker in Medway, MA by 1865 to at least 1870, and in Holliston, MA by his death in 1880 of an aneurysm.
