Before the Antietam Campaign:
He enlisted in Company E, 155th Pennsylvania Infantry on 20 August 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Transferred to Company E, 14th Regiment, Veteran Reserve Corps, November 8, 1863, served as orderly to Colonel Samuel McKelvy of Sewickley, PA. Mustered out 25 June 1865.

After the War:
He was a settler in the Dakota Territory about 1883 and later lived in Tiffin, OH.
