He enlisted in Company C, 3rd Arkansas Infantry at Monticello, Arkansas on June 10, 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the left knee and captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was confined at Fort McHenry, Maryland until exchanged at Aiken's Landing, Virginia on November 10, 1862. He was again wounded, in the shoulder at Chickamauga, Georgia on September 19, 1863. He was promoted Corporal and wounded in the left wrist at Richmond, Virginia, date not stated. He was then furloughed to the end of the War.
