Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Company K, 3rd Arkansas Infantry at Hamburg, Arkansas on May 20, 1861. He was appointed musician and transferred to the regimental band on July 28, 1862.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was exchanged at Aiken's Landing, Virginia on November 10, 1862. He was paroled at Appomattox, Virginia on April 12, 1865.

After the War

He was a carpenter and served as Ashley County surveyor 1888-1892.

Basic information from Howerton1. He married Mary E. Porter in South Carolina on February 4, 1869. She filed an Arkansas pension application #9008 from Phillips County on August 10, 1914.
