He was a 29 year old married laborer in New Orleans when he enlisted in Company B, 8th Louisiana Infantry on March 12, 1862 at New Orleans.

He was captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
By October 1862 he had been paroled and was in camp at Winchester, VA. He died in hospital (place not stated) in January 1865.
