He was a farmer in Cheneyville, LA when he enlisted in Company I, 8th Louisiana Infantry on May 26, 1861 in New Orleans.

On the Campaign

He was wounded and captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to the US Army General Hospital at Frederick, MD on October 12, 1862. He was forwarded to Ft. McHenry, MD on October 14th. He was paroled and sent to Aiken's Landing, VA on November 10th, and exchanged. He was killed in action May 4, 1863 at Fredericksburg, VA.
