Before Sharpsburg

A single farmer in Big Cane, LA, he enlisted in Company C, 6th Louisiana Infantry on June 4, 1861 at Camp Moore, LA. He was wounded in action on 1 September 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the foot and captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was admitted October 10, 1862 to No. 5 US Army , Federick, Md, and sent to General Hospital Fort McHenry, MD the next day. He was paroled and forwarded to Fortress Monroe, VA for exchange. Delivered at Aiken's Landing, VA on Oct. 17th and declared exchanged on November 10, 1862. He was in Chimborazo Hospital, Richmond, VA to 15 December, then back with his unit. Promoted to 4th Corporal on January 1, 1863. He was wounded in the thigh and captured at Gettysburg, PA on July 4, 1863, received at DeCamp General Hospital (Ft. Slocum on Davids' Island, NY) on July 23, 1863, and died September 6, 1863.
