He enlisted 11 May 1861, at New Orleans, LA in Company A, 2nd Louisiana Infantry. The Roll for May and June 1862 lists him as absent, sick, at Hospital at Farmville, VA since 26 May 1862. The Roll for July and August 1862 shows him as absent, sick and wounded, in Hospital in Richmond since 29 July 29, 1862. He was promoted to 3rd Corporal on 1 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was reported missing in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg with no later military record.
