Basic information from Carruth1. A 20 year old resident of Newburyport, MA, he enrolled at Private, Company B, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, and mustered in August 1862. He was in action on South Mountain and at Antietam. He drowned at Falmouth, VA on 23 January 1863, and was buried at the National Cemetery, Fredericksburg, division C, section 3, grave 140.
