Basic information from Carruth1. A 19 year old resident of Newburyport, MA, he enrolled at Private, Company B, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, and mustered in August 1862. He was in action on South Mountain and at Antietam, Fredericksburg, VA and Jackson, MS. He was discharged for disability on 29 November 1863. He was killed in a railroad accident in April 1882 and buried in Newburyport.
