Basic information from Carruth1. A 30 year old resident of Newburyport, MA, he enrolled at Private, Company B, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, and mustered in August 1862. He was in action on South Mountain and at Antietam. He transferred 11 November 1864 to the 108th Company, 2nd Battalion, Veteran Reserve Corps. Discharged on 9 August 1865. He was living in Newburyport in 1884.
