Before Antietam

A book keeper in Bridgeport, he enlisted in Company A, 14th Connecticut Infantry on 22 July 1862, mustering as Sergeant.

The rest of the War

Promoted to First Sergeant on 10 February 1863. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, Company B on 3 June 1863. Appointed First Lieutenant, Company D on 20 October 1863, and Captain, Company K on 5 December 1863. He served as Acting Assistant Inspector General of the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, 2nd Army Corps. He was killed in action 25 August 1864 at Ream's Station, VA.
