From Butler, FL, he mustered as Private in Company A, 2nd Florida Infantry on 29 August 1861. He was wounded in action at Seven Pines, VA on 31 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Corporal 1 October 1862 and Sergeant about 1 July 1863. He was captured at Gettysburg, PA 3 July 1863 and held at Ft. Delaware. He was released after taking an oath of allegiance on 10 June 1865.
