He mustered in to Company B, 8th Florida Infantry on 10 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot to his chest in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 2 October with a gunshot wound, described as a "Rebel deserter from lines at Antietam." He was "sent South" on 28 November 1862.
