Before the Antietam Campaign:
He was an unmarried 22 year old farmer from Lafayette, AL when he enlisted as Private on 16 June 1861 in Company B, 4th Alabama Infantry, then at Winchester, VA.

In the Antietam Campaign:
Present in action on South Mountain and at Sharpsburg.

The remainder of the War:
He was killed in action at Chickamauga, GA on 18 September 1863.
