He was an unmarried 18 year old overseer from Summerfield, AL when he enlisted as Private on 26 April 1861 in Company C, 4th Alabama Infantry.

In the Antietam Campaign:
Present in action on South Mountain and at Sharpsburg.

The remainder of the War:
Present with his Company in action in most engagements to the Wilderness, VA, where he was killed on 6 May 1864.
