Before the Antietam Campaign:
He was an unmarried 19 year old salesman from Whitesburg, AL when he enlisted as Private on 16 August 1861 in Company F, 4th Alabama Infantry at Bristoe Station, VA.

In the Antietam Campaign:
Present in action on South Mountain and at Sharpsburg.

The remainder of the War:
Present with his Company in action in most engagements into 1864, having been wounded in action at Dandridge, TN on 17 January 1864. He was then furloughed to 9 May (1864). No further record.
