He was an unmarried 25 year old farmer from Marion, AL when he enlisted as Private on 20 May 1861 in Company G, 4th Alabama Infantry at Harpers Ferry, VA. He was present at most engagements from First to Second Manassas, VA.

On the Campaign

Present in action at Boonsboro and Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

In action with his Company at Fredericksburg, VA in December 1862, on the Gettysburg Campaign in July 1863, at Chickamauga, Chattanooga, and Knoxville, and on the Wilderness Campaign. He was mortally wounded in action at Hanover Junction, VA on 25 May 1864 and died 26 June 1864.
