He was an unmarried student from Thornburg, VA when he enlisted as Private on 26 April 1861 in Company I, 4th Alabama Infantry. He was in action from First to Second Manassas, VA.
On the Campaign
He was with his Company on South Mountain and at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was in action from Chickamauga, GA and Chattanooga, TN through to the siege of Petersburg, VA in 1864.
