Before Sharpsburg

He was an unmarried 26 year old teacher from Larkinsville, AL when he enlisted as 4th Corporal on 27 April 1861 in Company K, 4th Alabama Infantry. He was in action from First Manassas to Seven Pines, VA, and elected Jr. 2nd Lieutenant on 20 April 1862 and 2nd Lieutenant in August.

On the Campaign

He was appointed First Lieutenant at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was at Fredericksburg, VA where he was promoted to Captain on 13 December 1862. He was with his Company at Chickamauga, GA, Chattanooga, TN, and the Knoxville campaign. He died of disease on 29 February 1864.
