He enlisted in Company G, 6th Alabama Infantry on 2 June 1861 at Corinth, MS.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was absent, sick through actions at Martinsburg, Gettysburg, and Front Royal in 1863. He was present for duty at Warrenton Spring, VA on 12 October 1863 and for the remainder of the war. He was appointed Sergeant on 1 April 1864. He surrendered with his Company at Appomattox Courthouse, VA on 9 April 1865.
