He was a 23 year old married farmer when he enlisted in Company G, 6th Alabama Infantry, on 1 March 1862 in Autaugaville Al. He was absent, sick in May and June, but with his Company in action at Malvern Hill, VA on 2 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action on 14 September 1862 on South Mountain.
