He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

He was again wounded, in action at Dallas, GA. He mustered out at the expiration of his term on 14 July 1864.

After the War

He ran a grocery and saloon at 53 Sixth Street in Racine, WI by 1876.
