An unmarried 23 year old farmer from Jericho, he enlisted as 4th Corporal, Company A, 8th Alabama Infantry on 8 May 1861. He was present at Yorktown, Williamsburg, Gaines Mill, Fraziers Farm, and 2nd Manassas in 1862.

On the Campaign

He was present at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

Then at Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg, PA where he was killed in action on 3 July 1863.
