He enlisted in Company A, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Battalion on 5 April 1862 at Adams Run, SC at age 28.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action on 14 September 1862 at Fox's Gap.

The rest of the War

Held at Fort Delaware, he was sent to Aikens Landing, VA and exchanged on 1 October 1862. He was in hospital in October and furloughed home in November 1862. He was killed in action at Cold Harbor, VA on 10 June 1864.
