He had probably served in the 3rd South Carolina Infantry Regiment, and enlisted as a Private in Company F, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Battalion on 30 January 1862 at Columbia, SC. He was promoted to 3rd Corporal on 1 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was reported missing in action at Fox's Gap on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He mustered out of service (date not given) as a Corporal in the 8th South Carolina Infantry, which had consolidated with the 3rd Regiment, 3rd Battalion and other SC troops in April 1865.
