Before Sharpsburg

An unmarried 17 year old, he enlisted in Company A, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Battalion on 5 December 1861 at Columbia, SC.

On the Campaign

He was wounded very severely in the right hand and captured in action at Fox's Gap on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was sent to the US Army General Hospital, Chester, PA, transferred to Fort Delaware, then on to Aikens' Landing, VA for exchange on 15 December 1862. He was at the General Hospital, Petersburg, VA then furloughed home for 40 days on 25 January 1863. No further military record.
