He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He enlisted in the Regular Army in Company B, US Engineers on 24 October 1862 at Sandy Hook, MD. He was discharged at the end of his term of service at Brandy Station, VA on 29 April 1864.
