Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Company M, First Texas Infantry when they organized in Trinity County, and mustered for Confederate service as Private on 5 May 1862 at Sumpter, TX.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action and captured at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was briefly at a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD from 15 - 16 October 1862. He was exchanged and returned to duty, date not given. He was paroled at Natchitoches, LA on 6 June 1865.
