Before Sharpsburg

He lived in Asheville, NC by the mid-1840's. He was commissioned Lieutenant, Company A, 2nd Florida Infantry on 25 May 1861. He was assigned as an Engineering Officer to General D. H. Hill by April 1862.

On the Campaign

He was on General Hill’s staff at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was assigned as Assistant Adjutant and Inspector General to General E.A. Perry at Fredericksburg, VA. He was wounded in action at Chancellorsville, VA in May 1863, and his left arm was amputated. He was on various engineering and ordnance duty in Alabama later in the War.

After the War

He was city engineer at Pensacola, FL.
