A 32 year old engineer from Taunton, he enlisted on 13 August and mustered as Private, Company D, 7th Massachusetts Infantry on 1 September 1862.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in Maryland but died of disease at a hospital in Hagerstown, MD on 3 November 1862.

After the War

He was initially buried in a plot near the Alms House in Hagerstown.
