Before Antietam

A 21 year old from Manitowoc, he enlisted 4 June 1861 in Company A, 5th Wisconsin Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in Maryland but died of disease at a hospital in Hagerstown, MD on 8 November 1862.

After the War

He was initially buried in a plot near the Alms House in Hagerstown, but reinterred at the new Antietam National Cemetery in 1866-67.
