He was living in Raritan, Monmouth County, NJ at the 1850 US Census. Age 21, he enlisted at New Dorp, and mustered as Private in Company F, 32nd New York Infantry on 31 May 1861.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in Maryland but died of disease at a hospital in Hagerstown, MD on 11 November 1862.

The rest of the War

He was initially buried in a plot near the Alms House in Hagerstown, and later reinterred.
