He enlisted as a Private in Company A, 4th Texas Infantry on 11 July 1861 in Gaudalupe County.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was listed as unfit for duty due to wounds until rejoining his Company in March or April 1863. He went absent without leave at Lynchburg, VA in February 1864 and was in arrest on 30 March. He was present for duty to at least August 1864 with no later military record.
