A 31 year old storekeeper from Lawrence, MA, he was a newspaperman in Bowling Green, KY at the start of the War. He left that state and enlisted in Company K, 11th Ohio Infantry as Corporal on 19 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
